About
I was born and raised in Kolkata, India, and attended Loreto House School in Middleton Row in Kolkata. I hold a bachelor's in electrical engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata and a PhD in Neuroscience from the Institute for Sensory Research at Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY. I became interested in cochlear implants during my PhD work, and was fortunate to be able to do a post-doc with Bob Shannon at House Ear Institute in Los Angeles. I am a card carrying member of the "HEI Mafia", a group of CI researchers who continue to break the mold. Since 2012, I have worked as a research scientist at Boys Town National Research Hospital, where I direct the Auditory Prostheses & Perception Laboratory.
